Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the standard rooming agreement? 

The retreat rooms/rates are double occupancy (or more). If you come with friends or family, we will do our best to room you together.  If you are coming as a single, we will pick someone nice for you to room with!  In some cases, you may be able to reserve a single occupancy room at an increased rate (estimated $500).  For our Pike National Forest retreat, a single room is generally not an option.  If you have special requests, please check with us!


  • Are all meals covered by Women in Balance? 

Yes!  All meals are included and will be prepared by our staff with fresh and healthy ingredients.  Snacks and healthy beverages will also be provided in the house and on scheduled outings.  We do not serve meat at our retreats.  Some seafood will be served and is of course optional.

  • Can you accommodate my dietary restrictions/allergies? 

Probably! Our staff cooks for all sorts of athletes with various likes, dislikes, and allergies. If you have special dietary needs or requests, please let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate you. Whether you are allergic to gluten or dislike peanut butter, just check in with us before your trip so we can dial everything in for you.

  • Can one trip accommodate multiple activity levels including walking, running, yoga, and strength training? 

Definitely. Our trips are fully supported so nobody has to be worried about being left behind. We will have anywhere from 2-4 guides on hikes and trail runs at all times. If you feel like finishing early, you can always turn around. As for our yoga, pilates, and strength training--yes! The teachers will cater the classes for all activity levels. 


  • What size are the groups? 

Our trips are around 15-17 partcipants.  This is a great, intimate size that still allows for group diversity. 

  • When do you suggest I figure out transportation? 

We suggest planning your transportation ASAP and not later than 2 weeks prior to your trip departure. This allows for ample trip planning on your end and enough time to tell us your travel plans. We will work on communicating with everyone to see if carpool options are available. 


  • Will there be alcohol? 

There will be no alcohol served.

  • When is payment due? 

Our Payment Policy is as follows:

1.  A 50% deposit is due at the time of booking your trip.  Root Adventures retreats may vary.

2. The Balance is due for your trip at least 60 days out.

3. If you sign up within 60 days of any trip, the full amount is due at the time of booking.

  • What is your cancellation policy? 

Please understand that the Women in Balance, LLC is a small company, and so we cannot make exceptions to the cancellation policy. The initial deposit is non-refundable. The remaining balance will be billed 45-days prior to departure. Once paid, it is non-refundable. You will however be given the option to apply your paid credit amount to a future retreat (within 18 months of cancelling). Exceptions to our cancellation policy cannot be made for any reason, including weather, terrorism, civil unrest or personal emergencies. There is no refund for arriving late or leaving a trip early. If you do need to cancel or transfer to another trip, we do ask that your request be in writing.

  • Do I tip the staff? 

If you’re fully satisfied with the service and performance of our staff then a gratuity is greatly appreciated. An industry standard for gratuity is around 10% of the total trip costs and is to be divided out to the entire trip staff. Participants typically give gratuity to the cofounders of the trip and then they divide that among the staff. Also, gratuity can be added to your final bill post camp.  Cash is appreciated.
